How to download Skype for Mac...

Now, just before we do, why is Skype so good?

Well, it's just a convenient way of talking with people all over the world, for free, using your computer and internet connection. You can chat and use real time video, or just chat using messages. It's great for business or personal... keep in touch with family or getting some quick business advice.

This short tutorial is for Mac users. Mac users need to have OS X 10.3 or higher.

Tip: Click on 'Software Update' in the top left corner of your screen to upgrade your Mac to the newest operating system...

Window users you will need to follow the same steps but just make sure you are downloading Skype for Windows...


So here's the steps to take:

Go and get Skype. Download it here.

That step should bring you to a page similar to the screen grab below.

Then click the Download button (see where the red is).





You might want to explore the site and learn about how it all works, check out the FaQs, and get familiar with using Skype too.

Next step will bring you to this screen (see below).

Click on the green download now button...





Once you hit that button Skype will start downloading automatically in the background. As far as I can remember it's a pretty big file (about 60 MB I think). Takes a few minutes.

Ok... Now it's just a matter of following these instructions (above).

You just need to follow the Setup Wizard...

He will wave his magic wand and lead you calmly through it...

Basically you want to be moving the Skype icon to your Applications folder. Then eject the disk image, and open Skype from the Applications folder. You might want to bring a Skype alias into your dock too... so that it's easy to open...

Then you will need to get your friend's Skype user names, and add your profile details...

That's it. All done. Go get your friends user names and any further questions just leave a comment below...
