Facebook: The Beautiful Online

What attracted me to Facebook was the overall attractiveness of the experience.
It's much like walking into a rich, fresh coffee-aroma cafe and sliding yourself into the nearest luxurious chair-sofa, Macbook Pro within reach, wireless fired up, and super latte ordered and on its way.
Yeah, everything 'inside' Facebook is nicely positioned... orderly... it's refreshing on a designer's eye, and perhaps compelling enough for any entrepreneur to just, heck, get networking immediately...
Like Brad, Facebook sure is 'easy on the eye.'
In fact, in Facebook, it's (almost) so intuitive that you fall into trying new things just by experiment... just because they look, well, great! (Cute, and function well).
In contrast, MySpace is the grunge cafe, with loud, flashy music, and an untidy-ness that obviously LOTS of people like... except me. I just like orderly, precious, well thought out design...
For example, I love the iMac, the whole Apple Mac concept, design experience, the iPod, and the Mac family...
Some people have an ability (and need) to appreciate a certain e-beauty, or "beautiful online experience" (BOE)...
But when 'inside' MySpace I just couldn't bring myself to network... it seemed too distracting, someone was always playing loud music somewhere when I wanted to sit at my e-table and talk about marketing to other entrepreneurs...
With Facebook we're already networking, and sitting around with high tech gadgets, brainstorming ideas, celebrating the now, loving every cyber-minute of it... And with the Porsche parked out the back.
There's a world of differences... and I know which I prefer...
Anyway, do try it...
This is what CNN (money) said about Facebook and Microsoft (Microsoft just invested $240 million into Facebook)...

In today's conference call Facebook Chief Operating Officer Owen Van Natta said that the company is doubling its base of active users every six months. Today the figure is around 50 million. In a separate conversation with me he said that the company's growth internationally has been so stunning that users outside the U.S. now represent 60 percent of the total."
My thoughts are that, we, as the new-world Facebook users, are saying that we are READY for more beautiful online experiences... and we expect that experience to be easy, user-friendly, and rewarding... we know the value of our time (at least, most of us do!)
By the way, Facebook's company valuation was a cool $15 billion. Worth every cent too.
