Have you ever thought... "I just want to spend more of my time creating photos and art?" (Or in my case, spend my time selling photos online!)

Or maybe you're one of the many creatively inclined individuals out there who doesn't want to spend the time and energy trying to learn how to be a web site designer, or how to design their own site...

In other words, many of us want a website, but we don't want to get bogged down in the 'designing a website' thing.

Having said that, there are some distinct advantages to learning the ins and outs to web design and basics such as how to get your images online and optimizing images for the web, but then again, how much time do you really want to devote to that stuff?

As a photographer, I want it to be simple. Just give me the tools to be creative.

Help me sell photos online, or present my artwork in the best manner, and bring some friendly folks over to my online gallery as often as possible.
But... you can create a remarkable online presence by using an assortment of sites such as Squidoo (where you build your own lens), set up a home page (blog) at Myspace, use any of the free blogging tools out there such as Blogger or Wordpress, and even go the step by step route with a guide such as the Design Dashboard.

In fact, there's plenty more options out there. If you feel inclined to do (the designing) yourself, you could use
XSitePro, and failing that, you could let Site Build It (SBI) take care of business with their all in one hosting, keyword and website setup that makes it easy for even the completely non technical minded individual to get started.

So is it true or what? Nowadays, you hardly need to know html! You can be
selling photos online, hosting beautiful art works on a personalized gallery, pushing your photo blog, and getting rave reviews from your peers, all within a few days from now. It really isn't that difficult, it's now just a matter of knowing what options exist out there... and starting.

And choosing the 'website design route' can indeed open a world of challenges for us who are not comfortable with the technical side. Yet, having a website is almost essential, and especially so for artists, designers and photographers...

The good news is that there's such a wide range of simple, easy to use, web hosting products and 'content friendly' web 2.0 sites that you really don't need to be a web designer.

It's never been easier thanks to the internet, and fortunately, the internet has become so much more 'you orientated...'

Of course having a website is great. Especially if you're a photographer... the 'net is made for photographers! As we go online in search for information, images reach out and pull us into the story.

Images are the triggers to reading further. They provoke the eye with a huge curiosity factor - which motivates us to look deeper.

When I first started designing, I never realized that options existed out there that could actually help me create a website without all the frustration of learning html, keyword optimization, web browsers, ftp, meta tags... But over time, the web has shaped itself nicely around our desires and needs...
